A historical brick warehouse building in the Chelsea district was left almost entirely intact while a new, contemporary structure was cantilevered above to convert the building into a state of the art modern commercial office building. Unlike recent performative architecture in the surrounding blocks, the building enters into a dialogue with the neighborhood’s history by bridging the old and the new.
